About us

DEW (Developing Empowering Women) provides opportunities of social and economic development to women in backward communities.

Women constitute 48.5% of the total population in India. More than half the women population in India are illiterate which makes them vulnerable and economically weak. Such a social situation affects every aspect of their life especially the mental and physical health.

DEW is venturing among the slums and backward neighbourhood where women are ill-treated, discriminated, and are denied of their basic rights. Empowering women to realize their potential and worth is at the heart of what we do.

DEW provides them with skill development training such as sewing designer clothing, embroidery, making hand bags, arts and crafts, and other employable trades. There are many tales of empowered women who are now leading a life of dignity and pride.

Those benefitted from DEW:

  • Married and unmarried needy women
  • Women from backward caste and communities
  • School Dropouts
  • Wives of severe alcoholics
  • Destitute and abandoned women
